Post Weight Loss Cosmetic Surgery Options - Thursday, December 27, 2007
Massive weight loss is a major accomplishment that requires hard work and determination. After losing the pounds many people find that they are still not happy with the look of their bodies. Stubborn pockets of fat, lax muscles, and excess skin that are unresponsive to diet and exercise can be left behind.Body contouring surgery addresses all of these areas and brings your body shape back into balance with your new weight. A combination of procedures which may include liposuction, tummy tuck, body lift, thigh lifts, arm lifts, breast lift, face and neck lift, are used in conjunction to complete the look you started by losing the weight. From there you maintain your look with proper diet and exercise.

Ultrasonic Liposuction is Here! - Tuesday, December 18, 2007
If you are looking for a non-surgical, non-invasive solution to stubborn areas of fat, your solution is on the horizon. Although still in clinical trials, ultrasound can now be used to melt way fat in your cosmetic surgeon's office.Although relatively safe, traditional liposuction is a surgical procedure accompanied by the standard risks of surgery and unique complications due to the introduction and removal of fluids. Other risks of liposuction surgery can include burning and scarring. The most common objection to traditional liposuction is the recovery period.
Ultrasound alternatives break down fat deposits with no surgery, no cannula, and most importantly, no downtime. The ultrasound waves specifically target fat cells and leave surrounding tissue unharmed. Your body naturally carries away the unwanted fat. The procedure is virtually painless and requires only local anesthesia. You should be able to return to your normal activities the same day.
Please contact The Centre P.C. in Elkhart, Indiana today to schedule an appointment to find out if you're a great candidate for this life-changing non-invasive procedure to remove those stubborn areas of fat.
What is Endoscopic Plastic Surgery? - Monday, December 03, 2007
Endoscopic surgery, often referred as simply "endoscopy," is a surgical technique that involves the use of an endoscope, a special viewing instrument that allows a surgeon to see images of the body's internal structures through very small incisions. For decades, endoscopic surgery has been used in surgical procedures such as gall bladder removal, tubal ligation, and knee surgery. However, endoscopic plastic surgery is fairly new. As important research continues, endoscopic surgery is being used on a limited basis for cosmetic and reconstructive procedures in plastic surgery.
At the Centre P.C. in Indiana, we use endoscopic surgery for procedures including tummy tucks, forehead lifts, and breast surgery. Regarding abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), endoscopy is sometimes used as an adjunct for patients who have lost abdominal muscle tone. Guided by the endoscope, the muscles that run vertically down the length of the abdomen may be tightened through several short incisions.
Some patients may benefit from an endoscopically-assisted facelift. When we use an endoscope, the incision along, or in the hairline, is elminated, and small incisions, instead, are made where the most correction is needed. To tighten the loose muscles of the neck, incisions may be concealed beneath the chin and behind the ears. The endoscope may also assist in the positioning of cheek and chin implants.
Of all the cosmetic procedures that use endoscopy, the forehead lift is the one which plastic surgeons most commonly perform. Instead of the usual ear-to-ear incision, three or more puncture type incisions are made just at the hairline. The endoscope guides me as I remove the muscles that produce frown lines; eyebrows are then repositioned at a higher level.
The best candidates for endsoscopic plastic surgery are those patients who do not have large amounts of loose hanging skin.
