When considering a cosmetic surgery procedure, no other aspect of the procedure may be as important as the goals you want to achieve. Cosmetic surgery is a permanent procedure and it can change the way you look for the rest of your life, so it's very important that you are completely clear with your cosmetic surgeon about what you want to look like.

Prior to your initial plastic surgery consultation at The Centre, P.C., there are a few different aspects of your appearance that you should take into consideration:

• What do you compare about yourself to others?
• Are there any activities or places you avoid as a result of your appearance?
• Are there behaviors you do or avoid because of the way you look?
• When did you start having concerns about your body?
• Do you dislike people touching you or seeing you naked?

All of these questions are important to arriving at the best result possible for you. You might consider finding pictures that can help you illustrate what you hope to achieve after your procedure. For rejuvenation procedures like a facelift, bring in a picture of how you looked a few years ago when you were comfortable with the appearance of your face. For facial procedures such as a rhinoplasty, pictures of family members are often a good choice because they show how subtle variations can improve your appearance while retaining your identity.

Pictures of celebrities and models can be good, too, especially for body contouring procedures like tummy tuck or buttock lift. Remember, though, that we cannot make you look like anyone, and pictures in magazines often use camera and wardrobe tricks as well as image manipulation to create unrealistic images.
