Injury Treatment
The Centre for Working Hands provides Hand Rehabilitation in Michiana, including Elkhart and South Bend, Indiana.
When an on-the-job injury strikes, you want your employee to receive the best care available to ensure as complete a recovery as possible. It’s also important that there be a timely return to work, not only for the sake of the business, but for the employee’s mental and emotional well-being, too.
As your partner in injury prevention and treatment, The Centre for Working Hands is committed to balancing the need for rapid return to the workplace with achieving the best outcome possible.
Working hand in hand, The Centre’s physicians and therapists have developed a seamless and integrated approach to case management, ensuring that each patient is guided effectively through the recovery process. This method cuts unnecessary costs and unproductive time, eliminating costly delays, conflicts and possible miscommunication.
From comprehensive assessments to prompt treatment to carefully planned therapy, we are committed to meeting the needs of both patients and employers. As your partner, The Centre offers you:
- detailed monthly reports on the treatment and progress of each case;
- case conferences to efficiently resolve difficult cases;
- a workers’ compensation liaison on staff who is well versed in providing the required details and documentation regarding treatment; and
- our partnership with the Centre for Behavioral Medicine to ensure both physical and emotional recovery.
Broad Spectrum of Services
The Centre for Working Hands has a full staff of hand therapists trained in a multitude of disciplines and techniques, including occupational therapy and preventive and non-invasive therapies for cumulative trauma disorders. Our Rehabilitation Services staff works to prevent new injuries and the recurrence of previous injuries, as well helping to lower costs for medical claims.
We also employ the Graston™ Technique where needed. Successful for 70-90 percent of patients treated with it, the Graston Technique can significantly reduce the high cost of workers’ compensation claims and lost productivity, and may be effective in alleviating conditions such as carpal tunnel and tendonitis.
Our state-of-the-art facility is directed by skilled plastic surgeons who were the first in this area to combine cosmetic/reconstructive skills with a focus on restoring both function and appearance. Board certified in plastic surgery, our reconstructive surgeons have extensive experience in the design and use of flaps. In addition, one of our surgeons holds a fellowship in hand surgery from the Christine M. Kleinert Institute of Hand and Microsurgery in Louisville. This extra level of education brings a comprehensive understanding of the specific physiology and treatment of the hand.
