Q. How often should treatments be done?

A. Treatments are typically scheduled twice a year. Having a touch-up treatment before the product has fully dissipated may enhance the lasting effect.

Q. What should patients do prior to treatment?

A. Restylane and Perlane require no pretesting, but you should take a few precautions before being treated. Avoid using aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John’s Wort, or high doses of vitamin E supplements prior to treatment, because these may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site. Also, if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, discuss this with your Restylane Specialist at Centre Yourself. You may be prescribed a medication to minimize recurrence.

Q. How are Restylane and Perlane different from BOTOX® Cosmetic?

A. Both Restylane and Perlane are natural cosmetic fillers. In contrast, BOTOX® Cosmetic is a drug that blocks nerve transmission and relaxes the underlying muscles. Many patients have been very pleased after receiving treatment with both products.

Q. How is Restylane and Perlane different from bovine collagen?

A. Bovine collagen is derived from animals (cows) and requires an allergy test. Restylane and Perlane can be administered immediately - no waiting is required.

Radiesse

Q. What areas respond best to Radiesse treatments?

• Smile lines (from the nose to the mouth area, also known as nasolabial or glabellar folds)
• Lines around the mouth (perioral lines and depressed mouth corners)
• Depressed scars
• Marionette lines (oral commissures)
• Soft tissue depressions (scars, for example)
• Nasal deformities

Q. What are Radiesse treatments like?

Radiesse treatments take about 15 minutes. The substance is pre-loaded in syringes. A small amount of local anesthetic is applied. Then the Radiesse is injected into the wrinkle, through a tiny needle, and placed just under your skin. Unlike other fillers, Radiesse is not absorbed by your system. Therefore, your Radiesse Specialist at Centre Yourself will not need to over-fill the wrinkle. Your results are immediate and long lasting.

Q. How many Radiesse treatments are generally needed?

The number of treatments required varies depending on the individual, the area treated and the desired result. Results with Radiesse are immediate, so you can determine at first glance if you are happy with the results or if you would like more Radiesse injected. Usually one treatment is sufficient because Radiesse is not absorbed by your body and is long lasting.

Q. What can I expect after my treatment with Radiesse?

Patients are up and around immediately after receiving their Radiesse treatments. You can expect greatly improved wrinkles, enhanced lips or smoothed-out depressed scars. Any discomfort following the procedure can be controlled with medication. The treatment site may have a little swelling, which may last 24 to 36 hours depending on the area treated. There may be some slight bruising at the injection site, which can be covered with make-up.

Q. How long will the results last with Radiesse?

Depending on the area treated, most of your correction may last for several months or years. Some touch-up treatments may be necessary. What our patients like the most about Radiesse is that they don't have to come back every three months and they still look great!
