Common Questions Regarding Mastopexy
The Centre, P.C. offers mastopexy (breast lift surgery) to patients in Elkhart and South Bend, Indiana, the Michiana area, and Chicago.
Q: Will I be able to breast feed after a breast lift?
A: If you are planning to have more children, it may be best to postpone your surgery until after completing your family. Mastopexy does not usually interfere with breast feeding; however, in some cases it causes an inability to breast feed. It also may alter your result. Your surgeon can discuss this further at your consultation.
Q: Will I have feeling in my breasts after mastopexy?
A: After surgery, you may experience some loss of feeling caused by swelling. As the swelling decreases, so will the numbness. This process may take several weeks.
Q: How will I feel following breast lift surgery?
A: Mastopexy surgery is generally well tolerated. Patients may resume their normal activities within 7-10 days following surgery. You may have a wrap around the breast area or a postoperative bra. Strenuous activity may be resumed in 4-6 weeks following surgery.
Your surgeon will ensure that you are fully educated prior to your procedure. He will be happy to discuss your concerns and questions during the consultation.
