Obagi Nu-Derm® System 

As you age and your skin incurs the abuse of daily living (such as sun, stress, pollution), the cell turnover rate slows down. This means that the new cells take longer to form and reach the top. The old cells accumulate and stay on the surface longer. As the stratum corneum thickens and the area of new cells shrink, skin becomes less healthy. You begin to notice those unwelcome signs of aging including: fine lines and wrinkles, freckles and age spots, uneven skin tone, loss of elasticity and loss of natural skin hydration.

The Obagi Nu-Derm System, a physician-prescribed skin care system, accelerates the cellular turnover. This system penetrates below the skin's surface to correct damage in all layers of the skin (the stratum corneum, the epidermis and the dermis). It corrects functions of the skin at the cellular level, to transform skin's cellular function to help it look and act younger and healthier. The system triggers a Therapeutic Cascade™ that:

• Pushes fresher cells to the surface faster, for smoother skin, reduced wrinkles and increased tolerance.
• Corrects current pigmentation (freckles and age spots) and prevents the appearance of new pigmentation.
• Promotes more uniform cells at the deepest layer for better skin structure and balanced, even skin tone.
• Increases collagen and elastin for firmer, more resilient skin.
• Increases nutrient's natural hydration and circulation for supple, healthy-looking skin.

Protocol for Use

Prepare
Cleansing and toning your skin makes it more receptive to the correction process.

1. Gentle Cleanser or Foaming Gel. Apply to wet face, rinse with lukewarm water and gently pat dry. Avoid rubbing the skin with a towel.
2. Toner. Apply to entire face with a cotton ball or cotton square, avoiding the eye area.

Correct
Repairs damage to the skin's surface, correcting hyperpigmentation (sun and age spots) and uneven skin tone while smoothing skin roughness.

3. Clear. Apply Clear evenly on the entire face, extending to the hairline, over the ears and ending with a feathering motion. (Rx only)
4. Exfoderm or Exfoderm Forte. Apply evenly over entire face, avoiding the eye area. Wait until the cream is absorbed.

Stimulate
Damage to the deeper skin layers is repaired. Skin elasticity is restored by enhancing the production of collagen and elastin.

5. Blender and Tretinoin. Apply Blender followed by the prescribed amount of Tretinoin. Apply evenly on the entire face, extending to the hairline, over the ears and ending with a feathering motion. (Rx only)

Protect
Prevent further damage from harmful UVA and UVB rays.

6. Healthy Skin Protection SPF 35, Sunfader or Physical UV Block SPF 32. Apply products as instructed by your Skin Health Professional at The Centre, P.C. Note: Prolonged sun exposure should be avoided for the first month. Sunfader (Rx only)

Control
In the event your skin becomes sensitive, dry or has a reaction, especially at the beginning of the treatment, you may add Control products to your protocol. However, they should only be used in moderation, as they slow down the skin transformation process.

Eye Cream. Recommended for daily use as needed to add moisture and soothe the eye area.

Action. Used sparingly only when your skin is uncomfortably dry from peeling or flaking.

Tolereen. Apply this low-dose hydrocortisone lotion when you experience itching, burning or redness.

As the first and only prescription-strength Vitamin C skin care system, the Obagi-C Rx System delivers brighter, Photolumines skin. Designed for people with mild to moderate sun damage, this simple prescription-strength system helps your skin look more radiant and even toned.

How It Works

The Obagi-C Rx System combines the proven benefits of physician-strength Vitamin C with a patented formula of prescription-strength ingredients. This specially formulated combination works to:

• Correct freckles and age spots caused by sun damage.
• Regulate the production of melanin-producing cells, resulting in even skin tone and radiant skin.
• Enhance collagen production, promoting smoother, brighter skin with fewer fine lines and wrinkles.
• Promote radiance, resulting in Photolumines skin that emits light you can actually see and measure.

Protocol for Use

The Obagi-C Rx System offers a simple, but complete skin care program that can be used in your home. Following this simple protocol can help you achieve the best results. However, your Skin Care Professional at The Centre, P.C. may also recommend a protocol that fits your specific needs.

C-Cleansing Gel. Apply to your wet face and rinse with lukewarm water.

C-Clarifying Serum. Apply evenly to your face and massage gently into skin, avoiding eye area. (Rx only)

C-Exfoliating Day Lotion or C-Exfoliating Day Lotion with SPF 12. Apply evenly to your face, avoiding eye area.

C-SunGuard SPF 30. Apply evenly to your face, repeat after two hours if in the sun.

C-Therapy Night Cream. Apply evenly to your face, avoiding eye area. (Rx only)

What to Expect

Most users report seeing some effects within the first few weeks. They are on their way to brighter, Photolumines™ skin.

There may be some initial reactions to the product. As with any skin care product, not everyone is ideally suited for it. Obagi-C Rx is a prescription-strength Vitamin C system that can cause some temporary irritation. It also has a sunscreen and alpha hydroxy acids that may cause temporary breakouts. These side effects usually go away after a couple of weeks.

If there are any persistent side effects, use of the product should be discontinued for a couple of days and then resumed. Your Skin Care Professional at The Centre, P.C. will work closely with you to achieve optimal results.
