Perlane®

The Centre, P.C. offers labiaplasty procedures to patients in Elkhart and South Bend, Indiana, Michiana and the Southern Michigan area, and Chicago.

Perlane® is an excellent way to treat facial folds such as those nasolabial lines which run between the nose and corners of the mouth. It can soften and smooth the lines around the mouth, plump up the lips, and fill out any scarring pits or facial depressions.

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

Perlane South Bend, Skin Care MichianaLike the popular injectable filler, Restylane®, Perlane® is based on hyaluronic acid. It uses a non-animal form of it, and there is no requirement for a skin test for allergies. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance which the body produces, but as we age, less is produced. The great advantage of hyaluronic acid is that it attracts water. Young skin is smooth partly because it has plenty of hyaluronic acid holding water in it, which gives volume and plumps up the skin.

Perlane® supplies the missing volume of aging skin which lacks hyaluronic acid. It is biodegradable and is eventually absorbed harmlessly by the body. Results of a Perlane® treatment last for six to twelve months. Before they fade you can have a repeat treatment to keep the youthful results in place.

Facial Rejuvenation Using Perlane® (or Restylane)

The most popular uses for Perlane® are:

  • Lip augmentation
  • Firming up the lip border by filling the tiny lines
  • Filling in hollow cheeks
  • Reducing acne scars
  • Smoothing smile lines and smoker’s lines
  • Reducing crow’s feet
  • Filling in worry lines

Sometimes it is also used to fill in the hollows beneath the eyes, smoothing out jowls, and correcting facial depressions which appeared after weight loss.

Perlane® vs. Restylane

These two injectable fillers are very similar. But Perlane® has a larger concentration of hyaluronic acid than Restylane, which makes it more effective for deeper wrinkles and larger facial folds. Restylane does a better job for fine lines and can also be used to prolong Perlane® results.

They both work quite differently from BOTOX® Cosmetic, which is not an injectable filler at all, although it has similar results.
