Elkhart Practice Technology Featured on Oprah

Elkhart, Indiana (November 18, 2008) – The same diagnostic technology used at The Centre, P.C. plastic surgery practice to facilitate patient skin care was featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show last week. The VISIA Complexion Analysis System, co-developed by Proctor and Gamble, is the first use of digital technology to provide photographic analyses of facial skin features.
As featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show, the VISIA Complexion Analysis System examines and digitally records the key elements of a person’s complexion, including fine lines, pigmentation spots, UV spots, enlarged pores and porphyrins (evidence of bacteria growth). An advanced computer program then separates the color signatures of skin components in both natural and ultraviolet light to analyze, diagnose, and evaluate various skin conditions. The results are detailed in a comprehensive report that includes a complexion comparison with people of similar age and skin type, as well as the most state-of-the-art evaluation data for sun damage assessment available.
“The VISIA System provides an entirely new approach to preventive skin care,” said Ronald Downs, MD, FACS, founder of The Centre, P.C. “These images allow us to actually see the particulars of how a person’s face will likely age. We can often see wrinkles before they are visible to the naked eye, for example, and then slow down their development with appropriate treatment options. After the treatment program is complete, we can repeat the VISA analysis to see determine the effectiveness of the treatment.”
Since its introduction in 2002, the VISIA Complexion Analysis System has been used by leading health and beauty publications including Allure Magazine and Prevention Magazine to judge the effectiveness of various skin care products, and has been featured repeatedly on numerous national television programs including Good Morning America, The Jane Pauley Show, and most recently, The Oprah Winfrey Show.
