Elkhart Surgeons Join Wound Healing Center of St. Joseph County
The Centre, P.C. offers the latest plastic surgery procedures to patients in Elkhart and South Bend, Indiana, Michiana and the Southern Michigan area, and Chicago.
Elkhart, IN (June 10, 2009) – The Centre, P.C. announced today that its founder, Ronald K. Downs, MD, FACS, and Patrick Viscardi, MD, are now participating surgeons at the only physician-driven wound clinic in St. Joseph County. Drs. Downs and Viscardi recently completed advanced training in wound healing and hyperbaric medicine with the National Healing Institute at Ohio State University. Both surgeons join nine other local specialists to lead the Wound Healing Center of St. Joseph County.
Drs. Downs and Viscardi will help the Wound Healing Center provide medical evaluations and advanced treatment options to patients who suffer from non-healing wounds. These include diabetic ulcers, vascular insufficiency, gangrene/necrosis, post-surgical infection, burns, crush injuries and many more.
“As plastic surgeons, both Dr. Viscardi and I often assist patients with reconstructive procedures related to non-healing wounds,” said Dr. Downs. “This additional training allows us to make a commitment to the Wound Healing Center so we can help more people overcome these frustrating, often painful conditions.”
The Wound Healing Center is a team of specially trained physicians, nurses and therapists who offer a unique, multidisciplinary approach to treating non-healing wounds. It is the largest in the state of Indiana with 2 hyperbaric chambers and 12 patient rooms.
