Nichols Achieves Certification as Plastic Surgical Nurse

Karen Nichols, RN, CPSN, has been certified as a plastic surgical nurse by the American Society of Plastic Surgical Nurses. She is a graduate of Jackson College with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. Nichols joined The Centre, P.C. in 1993.
The CPSN designation indicates the attainment of a common knowledge base, utilization of the nursing process, and a high level of skill in the practice setting. In addition, successful CPSN candidates have demonstrated their ability to synthesize the nursing process and apply the principles of biopsychosocial sciences in the care of patients with plastic and reconstructive surgical procedures.
The American Society of Plastic Surgical Nurses is a national voluntary nursing specialty organization committed to the enhancement of quality nursing care delivered to the patient undergoing plastic and reconstructive surgery. Its mission is to promote high standards of plastic and reconstructive surgical nursing practice and patient care through education, exchange of information, and scientific inquiry. The organization supports and encourages the collaborative relationship between nurses engaged in the areas of clinical practice, education, administration and research. ASPSN recognizes its responsibility to the advancement of plastic and reconstructive surgical nursing practice and provides a broad spectrum of opportunities to promote personal and professional growth of the membership.
