The Centre, P.C. will hold an invitational seminar on the Obagi™ Blue Peel on Tuesday, February 23, 1999 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 500 Arcade Avenue, Suite 300, RiverPointe Medical Building on the campus of Elkhart General Hospital. Refreshments will be served from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a Blue Peel demonstration beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Obagi™ Blue Peel is a light chemical peel that helps correct wrinkles, laxity, acne scarring, sun damage, pigmentation problems, large pores, and non-facial skin conditions. So, what makes it a breakthrough? Its safety, reduced recovery time, and lower cost as compared to other procedures, such as CO2 laser skin resurfacing. In addition, Blue Peel is the first chemical peel to successfully resurface skin of color without significant pigmentation problems.

A highly tolerable, 20-minute treatment followed by light swelling and peeling for 7-10 days. The Blue Peel is done in the physician's office without anesthesia. It uses trichloroacetic acid (TCA) in a slow-acting blue base that acts as a visual guide, allowing the professionals to clearly see the penetration of the peel as they apply it, until they achieve exactly the right depth. Most of the blue color washes off immediately after the treatment, and the remainder is gone within 24 hours.

Obagi™ was developed by world-renowned chemical peel expert, Zein Obagi, M.D. He has a clinic in Beverly Hills, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia. The peel is extremely economical. It ranges in cost from $250 to $450 for the entire face, as compared to $2,500 to $4,500 for CO2 laser skin resurfacing. (For best results, the skin is pretreated with Obagi Nu-derm™ products for about six weeks, adding approximately $395 to the cost). If further treatment is necessary, Blue Peel can be repeated every four to six weeks depending on the patient's skin type.

"Patients are seeing dramatic improvements in their skin after undergoing the Blue Peel," says Dr. Ronald K. Downs, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon who practices at The Centre, P.C. "I find it to be highly beneficial when used in conjunction with facial surgery such as facelifts, eyelid surgery, and endoscopic browlifts and also on a daily basis to maintain excellent skin health."

The Centre, P.C. is a comprehensive plastic surgery practice which specializes in cosmetic also reconstructive surgery, rehabilitation services and skin health services.
