The Centre, P.C. is a multifaceted plastic surgery practice that provides an on-site rehabilitation clinic for patients recovering from a traumatic hand injury or the effects of a cumulative trauma disorder. Some of the patients we treat are recovering from reconstructive surgery, while others have chosen or been recommended for a more conservative, non-surgical approach to treatment. Our therapists work closely with our surgeons and doctors to ensure that the treatment a patient receives is the most effective option for his or her particular condition.

Certified Hand Therapists
The Hand Therapy Certification Commission describes a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) as an occupational therapist or physical therapist who has a minimum of five years of clinical experience, including 4,000 hours or more in direct practice in hand therapy. In addition, the Certified Hand Therapist has successfully passed a comprehensive test of advanced clinical skills and theory in upper quarter rehabilitation. Because of changes in the profession, every CHT is required to demonstrate continued professional development and competency by recertifying every five years.

The HTCC also describes hand therapy as the art and science of rehabilitation of the upper quarter of the human body. Hand therapy is a merging of occupational therapy and physical therapy theory and practice that combines comprehensive knowledge of the upper quarter, body function and activity.
