How To Keep Your New Year’s Resolutions

According to one commonly cited statistic, just eight percent of people achieve their New Year’s resolution; less than half of Americans bother to make a resolution at all.

So, what gives? If you want to improve yourself in 2019, is there a way to improve your chances of success?

At the Centre Yourself Medical Rejuvenation Spa, we know a thing or two about self-improvement. Whatever the beauty goal, our team can help you get there.

Set Achievable Goals

Instead of broad restrictions and all-or-nothing commitments, choose a goal that’s specific and achievable.

For example, losing weight is a vague goal with virtually no parameters. How much weight? And what steps will you take to achieve it?

Most people aim high when setting goals, but aiming too high can hinder your ability to achieve success. It’s an exercise in humility to rethink the bar and set it low enough to conquer. Small gains can add up to big rewards.

So, instead of losing weight, commit to fewer junk foods or three workouts a week. Once you get the ball rolling, committing to bigger challenges will seem less daunting.

Find Ways to Stay Motivated

For most people, setting an achievable goal is the easy part. The tricky part is following through. Here are some simple ways to stay motivated:

  • Milestones are important — 365 days can seem like an eternity for people trying to change their lives. But one month or seven days is far more manageable. Break your goal into manageable milestones. Meeting these smaller goals is an easy way to enjoy success and may help propel you forward.
  • Spread the word — for lots of people, just getting the word out can be a huge motivational push. Tell your family and friends about your goal; journal your progress and share your story. Let the people that care about you be your motivation.
  • Make it a competition — setting similar goals with a family member or friend can spur a healthy dose of competition. Working toward a goal with a friend can help you stay accountable.
  • Get professional help — some people may need more than friends to hold them accountable. Whatever the goal, there are groups, organizations, and professionals available to help.

Reward Yourself

Lastly, a job well done is a lot more rewarding if there’s an actual reward; plus, rewarding yourself is another simple way to stay motivated throughout the year.

For those interested in improving their appearance, a reward can also compliment all the hard work. At the Centre Yourself Medical Rejuvenation Spa, we offer an array of rewarding services that will help you feel great throughout your resolution journey.

Did you quit smoking? Treat yourself to a rejuvenating facial or chemical peel! Smoking causes premature aging and skin damage, but you can reverse these signs and more with a custom skin care treatment.

Did you lose some weight? Cellulite reduction or body contouring is a great way to reward yourself; plus, all your hard work will look even better!
