Millie Bobby Brown, Botox, and Filler: Why Fans Are Split — and Why Subtle Enhancements Aren’t the Problem
Millie Bobby Brown is a British actress who’s best known for her exceptional performance playing, “Eleven” on Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things. Her rise to global fame happened at an accelerated rate at such a young age, and being in the limelight has come with a lot of baggage for the young star. We’ve quite literally seen Millie Bobby Brow grow from such a young age, up to young adulthood. An unfortunate side effect of fame is being subjected to judgement, unwanted opinions, and thoughts from millions of people that no one ever asks for. Recently, conversations around Millie Bobby Brown’s face, Botox, and dermal fillers have sparked debate online — with fans split in opinion. You might be asking yourself, “what does this have to do with learning who Millie Bobby Brown Is?” and I will get there.
Aside from starring in Stranger Things she is the founder of the beauty brand Florence by Mills, aimed at Gen Z skincare and makeup. We love a girl boss!
What Is Stranger Things?
I feel like I can speak for just about everyone else when I say, if you don’t know what Stranger Things is or if you simply haven’t heard of the show by now, you must be living under a rock, no shade. -That’s okay, because today I have time to explain. Stranger Things is a Sci-Fi Horror TV series, written and produced by The Duffer Brothers. The main plot of the show is for a group of friends to take down the MindlFlayer and Vecna, but there are a bunch of other subplots to the series. For example, the group of friends uncover government experiments, supernatural creatures, and a parallel dimension called the Upside Down. Some might argue that the relationships created and then quickly ended were just as crucial to the main plot of the show…The series is five seasons long. Season 1 being arguably the most favored among OG fans and the actors alike for nostalgic reasons. With season 5 being the most hated Online. The Duffer Brothers made fans wait THREE years for Season Five, and it seems as though the audience is split in two. Some love it, and some clearly hate it for reasons I won’t get into. What I really want to touch on how unhinged fans can be.
Why Fans Are Split on Millie Bobby Browns Glow Up
The entire cast has been bullied endlessly online, especially Millie. Since Season 1, fans have teased her about her boy-ish haircut and are still finding things to pick on her for. Let me clarify that not every fan is a bad fan; however, it’s been speculated that some cast members feel like the bullying and harassment online has gotten so bad, they had to completely abandon social media altogether. Bullying, and harassment is never okay regardless of someone’s career; being an actor shouldn’t mean they should expect to picked apart by strangers online.
Now, you might be wondering why I’m giving this attention, since we don’t support negativity over here. Well, it’s been ONE week, seven DAYS since the last episode aired and my goodness the fans have completely lost the plot–quite literally. When Stranger Things Season 5 dropped, fans immediately dove into theories about the plot, characters, and emotional stakes — but alongside that conversation, something else began trending online: commentary about Millie Bobby Brown’s appearance. In particular, social media users quickly noticed that her lips appeared fuller than in earlier seasons, sparking a wave of speculation about whether she’d had cosmetic work done, including lip fillers. Some viewers even said it pulled them out of the story, claiming they found it distracting from key emotional scenes.
I’m on Tik Tok, and have noticed an influx of Stranger Things Edits & Videos of fans comparing Millie (Eleven) to Handsome Squidward. Are we serious? I mean, we’re talking about a REAL person, Millie isn’t just a make believe character who lacks emotions and feelings. I believe that if she weren’t famous people wouldn’t be able to tell she’s had filler or Botox. People will hate on an actor, or person for not being attractive enough and when the individual finds a solution to enhance their beauty [aka glow-up] people will still find something to complain about. There is no winning here.
Critics: “Has Botox Affected Her Acting?”
One side of the internet claims that Botox and facial fillers can limit expression, especially for an actress known for emotional depth. These fans worry that injectables — even subtle ones — could affect facial movement and performance.
This reaction is common when child actors grow up. Audiences often struggle to reconcile adulthood, aging, and evolving appearance with the version of a celebrity they first fell in love with.
Supporters: “This Is What Tasteful Filler Looks Like”
The opposing perspective is far more supportive — and arguably more realistic. Many fans, along with aesthetic professionals, say that if Millie Bobby Brown has had cosmetic injectables, they appear:
-
Natural
-
Conservative
-
Well-balanced
-
Completely unnoticeable without scrutiny
Supporters argue that this is exactly what modern Botox and filler treatments are designed to achieve: enhancement without detection.
Growing Up in the Public Eye Comes With Unfair Standards
Here’s the irony: people criticize women for not fitting beauty standards — and then criticize them again when they do something about it.
Millie’s alleged cosmetic treatments appear subtle and tasteful. Frankly, if she weren’t famous, most people wouldn’t clock them at all. But fame magnifies everything. The goalposts constantly move, and there is no way to win.
This is what happens when perfection becomes the expectation and aging — even natural, minimal aging — becomes unacceptable.
Cosmetic treatments like filler and Botox are not inherently bad. When done thoughtfully, they can enhance features while still preserving individuality. The issue isn’t aesthetics — it’s the culture that feels entitled to dissect someone else’s face frame by frame.
Final Thoughts
Millie Bobby Brown doesn’t owe anyone youth, stagnation, or silence. She’s allowed to evolve, experiment, and exist — just like anyone else.
At the end of the day, this conversation isn’t really about filler or Stranger Things. It’s about how comfortable society has become with projecting insecurity onto women, especially young women in the public eye.
Tasteful cosmetic treatments are not the enemy. Cruelty is. I hope someday those haters can learn to stop projecting their own insecurities onto others. There is nothing wrong with getting filler or Botox, especially when it’s done tastefully.
