Arm Lift

Loose or sagging skin under the arms is difficult to remedy with traditional diet and exercise. Excessive weight loss, genetics, and natural aging are all contributing factors. Depending on the amount of excess skin a patient has, their best surgical option may be on arm lift, or brachioplasty.
A brachioplasty is designed to excise, or cut away, excess skin from the arms. This does leave a scar from the elbow to the armpit. While the scar is long, the surgery almost always makes a very dramatic difference. We also provide you with scar care strips to help your scars become as imperceptible as possible over time.

Frequently Asked Questions
Your surgeon will begin by marking the areas where he/she will make their incision. Once you have been placed under general anesthesia for your comfort, your surgeon will make an incision typically from your armpit to above your elbow and removed as much excess skin as possible. Your surgeon will use sutures underneath the skin to close the area and seal them with surgical glue. You will then be dressed in bandages and a surgical compression garment to help control swelling.
Incision areas will be tight and tender for the first 10-14 days after surgery. Your surgeon will prescribe pain medication to help control discomfort after surgery. Patients will continue to wear their compression garment 24 hours a day for 4 weeks after surgery. You will be restricted from exercising or lifting anything over 10 pounds for at least 4 weeks after surgery. You will be seen for follow up appointments where your surgeon will give you the go ahead to increase your activity.
